Actress Bryce Dallas Howard has long been a Kate Spade enthusiast, and today it was officially announced that the 29-year-old is the new face of the preppy-cool brand (and the first celebrity to be the face of Kate Spade). Howard, the ethereal star of films like The Village and Lady in the Water, told WWD, “The Kate Spade offer came up and I kind of lost my mind. There’s something about that brand that, from a young age, I really, really, really connected with. It was always the thing I wanted for Christmas…since I was 15 or 16.”

It’s the first time Howard, who is the daughter of famed actor-director Ron, has starred in an ad campaign — and, as we mentioned, the first time Kate Spade has featured a celebrity in its ads. In each shot of the new campaign, Howard is dressed head-to-toe in the brand (she’s carrying their new Scout satchel in the pic below).
Deborah Lloyd, Co-President and Creative Director at Kate Spade, described the relationship with Howard as a “partnership” as opposed to a “flirtation,” explaining, “We loved her, and that she grew up with the brand.…She’s not just a pretty face. She’s a multitalented woman, which represented the brand very well.”
The full campaign will be released this spring.
