While leadership changes and major expansion at Kate Spade & Company and kate spade new york, respectively, have been blanketing recent headlines, Jack Spade has been quietly forging its own new territory. The label held its first ever New York Fashion Week presentation yesterday, showcasing newly elevated sportswear and the brand’s entry into tailoring.
The Fall/Winter 2014 presentation, shown in a private room at the New York Public Library, represented the first full collection from Design Director Todd Magill. Though Jack Spade introduced men’s apparel two years ago, the upcoming Fall/Winter line charts a new direction for the label’s growth into a full lifestyle brand. Think tightly edited, eminently wearable pieces in a neutral palette, alongside fine tailoring details that are an ideal complement to sister brand kate spade new york.
Between the crisp looks, good-looking models, and prosecco and Brooklyn Lager on offer all morning, it’s a lifestyle we wouldn’t have a hard time getting behind. And to round out the whole effect, don’t forget that Jack Spade will be launching sunglasses and eyewear later this year, too.
