Thanks to Google, You Can Talk to Designers While Shopping Their Clothes

Diane fon Furstenberg

We’ve always wanted to chat with the people who design our clothes before whipping out the debit card, but trunk shows can be annoyingly invite-only.  Google and the CFDA teamed up to solve the problem with a series of Google+ Hangouts in which participants can talk to featured designers while shopping their new fall collections.

The first participant is noted Google Glass advocate/President of the CFDA herself, Diane von Furstenberg.  DVF will be available at 8 pm EST on October 3, to chat while you shop.  The rest of the Hangout schedule includes the Rag & Bone team, Rebecca Minkoff, and Rachel Zoe (having encountered her in real life here and there, we hope we can ask about her “issues” rather than her clothes.  She loves discussing them!).

While we’ve enjoyed designer Twitter talks and that sort of thing, this organized Q&A session combined with e-commerce is breaking new ground.  It’s an awesome way to use technology to connect in a very human way with an eager fan base.

Here’s a teaser for the launch of the new program:
