Last night, we checked out the opening party of Lucky Brand’s newest New York store, in the Time Warner Center. Various celebs in attendance included Karina Smirnoff, David Gandy — the face of the men’s side of the brand — and Kelly Bensimon (who happened to be sporting our favorite denim of the season, the Charlie Skinny Mini Damask jeans).
We chatted with Patrick Wade, the brand’s Creative Director, about all that went into the latest store’s design. He and architect Michael Neumann worked together to create something all new. “It’s a completely original design,” Wade pointed out, “all the finishes are new, we have a new jewelry presentation, and we’re doing in-store branding, which we’ve never done before.” He also pointed out elegant, subtle details, like an antique mirror behind the cash wrap and vintage jewelry on display in the accessories case.
Toward the end of the party, everyone gathered around for a performance by Amos Lee, a singer-songwriter who’s a favorite on the Lucky Brand playlist. The crowd paid rapt attention, with no one more surprised than the charming Lee: “I expected everyone to be talking,” he admitted.
