This is cool: to promote and celebrate garments fabricated or designed in Los Angeles, the city’s mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, will launch a “Designed/Made in Los Angeles” hangtag. To get a logo, his offices solicited submissions from local fashion-related businesses, including American Apparel and the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
It’s the made in the U.S. trend going even more local. The city boasts a $13 billion apparel industry — why not celebrate it?
For the record, anyone can vote. Or at least, we just did. To learn more, check the mayor’s Facebook page. New York, where’s your “Made in” logo?
