Lucky you, if you’ve got a pup and live in England. A number of major British designers are creating outfits for dogs to aid the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. The clothes will be showcased at the shelter’s benefit party, Coats and Collars, next month.
Yes, there will be a fashion show at the gala — or, ahem, a “dogwalk” — and the event has a celeb host, in the form of model David Gandy. Some of the designers taking part include Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Mulberry, and Gareth Pugh, which is actually pretty awesome. All the outfits will be auctioned off for charity.
What is it about Brits and funny charitable creations? Last year, some of the country’s edgiest designers, including Henry Holland and Jonathan Saunders, agreed to design a teddy bear, of all things, to benefit the BBC’s Children in Need program. While we wonder when the American contingent is going to start designing, say, doll clothes, check out Coats and Collars for more information on the very high-end British canine outfits.
