Not only did Juicy Couture bring back its signature tracksuit with an evolved, more mature fit at Wednesday evening’s Spring 2013 show at Lincoln Center, but the brand debuted a glitzy, fun video showcase, highlighting the best of the collection donned by South African fashion industry darling Candice Swanepoel.
Though the show represents Juicy Couture’s official debut at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, the spring video features absolute Los Angeles allure. Directed by actress/director/LA native Zoe Cassavetes, with music by the band Best Coast, the film is flirty and upbeat. Swanepoel dances in polka-dot cut-offs and a printed boho jumpsuit. The “mini-film” (could this be a new genre, we wonder?) even pays homage to Twitter’s 140 characters, limiting itself to a timeframe of 1:40.
The show, and the pieces highlighted in the video, were inspired by Fifties pin-up fashion reinterpreted in a fresh, contemporary way. Juicy Couture’s Creative Director, LeAnn Nealz, says “the collection has a subtle sexiness carried throughout — but still feels Juicy and fun.” We couldn’t agree more — and we can’t wait for spring to snag that short romper, perfectly emblematic of the look, which Swanepoel sports in the film.
