Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s retrospective at the Whitney is winding down at the end of next month, but her collaboration with Louis Vuitton is still ramping up. London’s Selfridges department store will have the entire second installment in stock well before its October release anywhere else, and in celebration of that fact, they’ve got a couple cool initiatives in the works.
Beginning this Friday, the department store will devote all their store windows to the collaboration (this is the first time they’ve done that for any brand) and showcase the line in an in-store concept boutique. More fun, and available to non-Londoners, are the “Spot the Difference” videos, which feature Kusama’s clothes and five subtle differences between the two films. To get viewers engaged, Selfridges is inviting them — beginning today and ending September 7th — to submit their observations to the Twitter handle @LouisVuitton_UK with the hashtag #LVKusam.
Five random winners will receive an edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, illustrated by Kusama. We plan to watch and play — how about you?
