Details is teaming up with Bespoke Post, which markets varied monthly boxed kits to a male subscriber base. In recent months, we’ve seen monthly product subscription services take center stage, and we’ve witnessed men’s magazines, in particular, latch on to retail partnerships, but this is the first we’ve heard of a collaboration between an editorial publication and an of-the-month club.
Bespoke Post, which is relatively new, presents a particularly appealing iteration of the monthly product package. The $45 boxes can be viewed before ordering (unlike, say, Birchbox, where each monthly sample line-up is a surprise), and the company has good relationships with its brand partners, in order to send out kits valued around $70.
And the boxes themselves? Well, they can include anything ranging from packed weekender bags to cocktail sets, but they all fall under one title — “Box of Awesome.” (No, really, this is what the company calls them.) No wonder Details is on board. To kick things off, the duo are offering a beach-ready box, which comes with a linen blanket, folding sunglasses, and a set of dominoes. A few more co-branded boxes are in the works, after which Bespoke Post will be branching out to work with other editorial entities.
With the slew of unique online retail for men and editorial retail initiatives entering the market, what do you make of this latest effort? Marrying great product, a respected magazine title, and the chance to see what you’re buying before you sign up, we think it’s one of the better new options out there.
