Sephora Dives Into Pinterest With Color-Focused Contest

Pin it to win it — we like the competitive edge brands are taking on Pinterest.

Okay, it might not be on par with Bergdorf Goodman scouting models via Facebook, but Sephora’s new Pinterest contest is pretty cool.  The Color Wash Sweepstakes invites pinners to turn their favorite colors into beauty inspiration boards, for the chance to win $250 to spend at Sephora (there are ten prizes in all).

To start, follow Sephora on Pinterest (of course — how else would this contest beef up the number of brand followers?), and then just start building a new board, entitled Sephora Color Wash, around a particular color.  Be sure to put it in the Hair & Beauty category, and include this page among the pins.  Beyond that, entrants need only include five images or products from Sephora’s Web site, each tagged #SephoraColorWash.

It seems so simple, but it hits all the key notes — freebies, brand-customer engagement, friend-to-friend marketing, and of-the-moment social media.  How many thousands of entrants do you think Sephora will have by the April 30 deadline?
