To Promote Jeans, Gap Launches a…Food Truck?

If you live in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, or Chicago, it’s a legitimate question.  Gap will be driving food trucks around these cities tonight through September 30th.  The truck’s publicity stunt package (just kidding, we made that name up, though the meal/coupon combo is real) is a good deal: for $1.69, it includes two tacos, a beverage, and a $20 voucher good toward a pair of Gap’s jeans from their 1969 denim line.

All four vehicles have food world names behind them.  Katie Lee was in charge of the recipes for Los Angeles’s “Pico de Gap” truck, Marcel Vigneron, from Top Chef, is associated with LA, Ryan Scott, also of Top Chef, is doing San Francisco’s truck, and Rick Gresh is responsible for Chicago.

So, the cooking sounds good, even if the publicity is weird.  What do you think?  Would this inspire you to try on Gap denim, or just, well, pick up an inexpensive lunch?

    You don’t need to buy Gap tacos to get the $20 off the jeans…it’s an in store promo through Sunday good on all 1969 denim products.
