These days, it’s getting harder to talk about fashion without talking about technology. The new models for buying, selling, and marketing — QR-coded billboards! mobile apps! — are becoming so pervasive (and so necessary) that sometimes they overshadow what’s most important: the products themselves.
Perhaps with this in mind, a number of major retailers are ushering in the new by going back to their roots — hitting their archives, sometimes way, way back, to create retrofitted (literally) versions of classic styles. The move could be a response to the overabundance of newness — at the end of the day, perhaps what we want is an item that falls on the safe side of familiar (even if we’re shopping for it on our smartphone). This back-to-the future trend may also be recession-induced — as shoppers get pickier about purchases, they look for styles that have stood the test of time.
Either way, we’re huge fans of the “everything old is new again” trend. Here are our 8 absolute faves.
