Century 21 Finally Goes Online, Launches Flash Sale Site

If you live in New York City, you’re probably familiar with discount mini-chain Century 21. Built like a department store — multiple floors of marked-down designer clothes, accessories and housewares — it’s a legendary place to score a bargain (that is, if you can tolerate the crowds; browsing the flagship location in downtown Manhattan is usually a pretty intense experience).

In just a few days, some of of the coveted Century 21 merchandise will be available for the first time online. Racked is reporting that Century 21 plans to launch an e-commerce venture that will include “exclusive” online sales. And according to the store’s Facebook page, the site will debut with brands like Coming Soon and McQ (4/27-4/28) followed by Just Cavalli and Love Moschino (4/27-5/1).

The flash sale market is already teeming with powerhouses like Gilt Groupe and Rue La La, but we’re not counting Century 21 out: though they are new to e-commerce, the company has been around since 1961, and has shown remarkable staying power as a luxury-discount powerhouse (at least in New York City, anyway).
