Yesterday, Target hosted a press preview for magazine editors. The store showcased its new Go International launch, a kind of “greatest hits” re-release of 34 dresses from 17 of the designers Target has collaborated with over the past five years. Shoppers can expect pieces from Luella Bartley, Tara Jarmon, Paul & Joe, Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler, Libertine, Alice Temperley, Erin Fetherston, the now defunct Jovovich-Hawk, Rogan, Richard Chai, Jonathan Saunders, Thakoon, Tracy Feith, Rodarte, Zac Posen and Tucker to hit Target stores nationwide in March.

Target will not release which dresses they’ve selected from each brand to online press until February, but a quick look at each designers’ collection is enough to give you an idea of their choices (pieces were selected based both on sales, and on what the Target design team thought would still be relevant and wearable).
It’s a great idea, not only because it creates another huge press moment for Target, but also because it’s a sure source of sales — these high-end designer collaborations generated some incredibly popular items, so it makes sense to offer some of the most coveted pieces from the limited-edition collections to a wider audience. When many of these lines launched, in-demand items sold out within a matter of hours.
A Target spokesperson said that there were no immediate plans to do another relaunch of, say, shirts or accessories, but we’d assume that if the dresses sell out in March, they’ll reconsider.
