Los Angeles-based Linlee Allen, 35, is a fashionable hyphenate. She consults for French fashion designer Vanessa Bruno and Australian accessories line Oroton, she writes for Style, snaps photographs for Purple Diary and Vogue Italia and blogs at DeLinlee DeLovely.  As a teenager in Adelaide, Australia, she came across an air freight copy of Italian Elle in a newsagent. “It was heavy like some sort of tome, and as I flipped through the pages I said to myself ‘Now this is the kind of world I want to live in.’”

We asked Allen for a week of fashion-related shopping.

Thursday: Posy Mesh Evening Tote by Oroton, AUD$245

“I love the iconic mesh purses by this Aussie brand that were like the Prada of Oz during the `70s. I’ve seen a lot of Hollywood actresses sporting their bags on the red carpet of late so I’m flying the Aussie flag in LA and showing my support.”

Friday:
LOVE THE ARTIST T-shirt, $4, eBay
Origins Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Face Cream, $12, eBay
Black-and-white film stills featuring Orson Welles, $8, eBay

“I’m a huge fan of eBay, especially when it comes to sourcing designer brands at one tenth of the original price. I also love a good T-shirt print and occasionally scan the site to see if there is anything special, like this fantastic find for $4. It’s a T-shirt with a cool graphic print that reads LOVE THE ARTIST. I’ll wear it in Paris with denim cut-off shorts and a turban. And I love the skincare brand Origins too. For the Orson Welles black-and-white film stills, I’m Orson-obsessed so will frame these and hang them in my office. Ebay is brilliant for finding major bargains.”

Saturday: Paint-splattered denim overalls from J.Crew (online exclusive), $134

“I just watched the film Pollock for what seems like the 50th time and I love the wardrobe of Pollock’s wife, Lee Krasner, so I’m adapting that painter/artist look. Plus, it’s perfect for bike riding and completely shocking the 90210 crowd.”

Sunday: Airport transfer from Super Shuttle, $30

“I’m leaving for Paris later this week and I’ll use Super Shuttle going to the airport rather than a taxi just because whenever I return from somewhere I’ll always cab it home from LAX. Just to leverage it in my mind I guess it’s become a habit.”

Monday: New Vampress dress by Marnie Skillings, AUS $326

“Aussie designer Marnie Skillings is one of my favorite fashionistas Down Under. Her clothes are definitely not for the weak at heart and I love accessorizing and clashing against her fantastic prints. This dress is one of my staple looks for summer in LA teamed with a turban, vintage brooches, a big belt and 1940s-inspired wedge sandals.”

Tuesday: Stopsmiling magazine back issue, $25

“Of all the magazines in print today, I’m not interested in subscribing to any of them but this publication definitely wins my vote as the kind of magazine I want on my coffee table. Great interviews with great creatives and an aesthetically pleasing, no mess, no fuss layout.”

Wednesday: Grapefruit Gratitude Oil Slather from Soaptopia, $32

“This Venice Beach-based apothecary is one of my favorite places in LA and their all-natural body oils are beyond brilliant. The grapefruit scent in the summer is the stuff that magic beauty secrets are made of.”

Thursday: Pamplona Espadrilles from Espadrille Store, $35.95

“I might not be spending my summer vacation in Spain this year but that doesn’t mean I can’t dress the part via these traditional Spanish espadrilles. I love giving them as gifts to girlfriends as it’s so difficult to find a really authentic shoe design that’s not mass-produced.”
